Beauty Empties & Reviews - August 2017

I can't wrap my head around the fact that it's already September and that summer is pretty much over!  I'm not looking forward to the cold weather here in Boston.  I prefer warm weather all year round, screw Pumpkin everything, ugh!  Anywho, here are the products I finished up in August!

Haircare

L'Oreal Mousse Absolue Hair Color
I liked using this hair color for my roots because it's not a one and done hair color like other box dyes.  It can be used over and over again.  However, I've been noticing that it's been doing a worse and worse job at covering my grays.  I think the older the product gets, the worse a job it does.  Perhaps that is why it's getting discontinued because I can't seem to find it anywhere.  I did buy a new box on Amazon and it seems to be ok for now.  I do hope they come out with an improved formula of a product like this because it was really convenient for roots where you really don't need to use an entire box of color.

Gorge I'll Make You Look Amazing Daily Spray
This is a leave-in conditioning spray.  It was ok but if I applied even slightly too much, it made my hair feel dirty and weighed down.  I wouldn't repurchase.

Kevin Murphy Hydrating Mask
I didn't like this hair mask at all.  In fact, it contained little beads just like an exfoliating face wash which I found to be really weird.  This did nothing to improve my hair so I wouldn't repurchase.

Skincare

Pure Skin Ice Cooling and Soothing Patch
I received this in a Memebox a few years ago.  These gel patches are applied to the skin to sooth sunburns. While they felt nice and cooling upon application, I don't think they did much more beyond that.  I wouldn't repurchase.

Soap & Glory Hand Food
I love the original Soap & Glory scent and this was a nice thick hand cream.  I kept it at my desk at work and it lasted me from January until now which is amazing!  I would repurchase.

Bioactive Skincare Organic Tea Tree Face Wash
This was a perfectly fine face wash, it did a decent job at removing my makeup.  I would repurchase if it was on sale.

Shiseido Facial Cottons
I absolutely love these facial cotton pads!  They are super thick and soft.  I used them to apply toner to my skin after cleansing.  I try to buy these at Ulta or Sephora only when I have a 20% coupon because they are definitely on the pricey side for cotton pads.

NKD Skin Pre-Shower Tan
You are supposed to apply this product for 10 minutes before you shower.  I often left it on for longer than 10 minutes and I didn't notice that it gave me any sort of color.  Not only that, it felt really sticky and had a slight hint of that gross tanning smell.  I wouldn't repurchase this.

Doctor Babor Hydro Rx 3D Hydro Gel Pads
This pack contained a single pair of gel eye pads.  They felt great and cooling under my eyes and I felt that they did make me have an overall brighter look.  I'd like to try it a few more times before I decide if I'd purchase an entire pack.

M-61 PowerGlow Peel
This brand is the store Blue Mercury's own skincare brand which I've already tried and know that I love. You can see my review of the JetGlow Cream and Serum here.  This was a pack of 10 pads that are saturated with glycolic and salycilic acid.  These pads definitely burned a bit but my skin felt and looked really clean and fresh after use.  I would repurchase.

M-61 PowerGlow Moisturizer
This is a resurfacing glycolic moisturizer.  I can't really tell from this small sample, but I think that it did improve my hyperpigmentation a bit.  I'd probably like to try more samples before I decide if I'd purchase a full size.

Sunday Riley Good Genes
I love this product.  It does wonders for my hyperpigmentation.  I would repurchase.

Makeup

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Powder
I didn't like this as a setting powder.  It's weird because half of it is shimmery.  It just didn't work for me so I'll be passing it along to someone who will like this type of product

L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow Concealer
This concealer was really much too thin in consistency for my liking.  I need a much more opaque  and thicker concealer to cover my undereye circles so I'll be passing this product along as well.

Maybelline Dream Lumi
I don't think this is really meant to be a concealer but that's how I used it.  It was ok but like the product above, it wasn't opaque enough for my liking.

Colourpop Super Shock Shadows in Bae and Dare
I was playing around with my Colourpop shadows and noticed that a couple of them had dried up.  I actually didn't even realize that they could do that.  I did love them when I used them, especially Bae.  I love Colourpop shadows and will continue to purchase them.

Phew, well that's everything I finished in August!

Are you a fall lover or a warm weather lover like me?  I feel like I'm the person who's sad that summer is ending!
