December Beauty Empties & Reviews

Hi Beauties!

Here are the products I finished up in December and mini-reviews of each item.

Hair Products

Hairgurt Hair Masque
I received this in a Boxycharm box and it's hands down the best hair mask I've ever used!  It makes my hair super soft and bouncy even!  When I use this I don't have to style my hair and I can even let it air-dry most of the way.  Also, it smells like a strawberry Jolly Rancher!

Rita Hazan Root Concealer
This product is a must-have for me.  My roots come in super quick and I have a ton of white hair so I spray this and it covers most of them.  However if I spray too much, it makes my scalp feel gross and if I touch my hair, the coloring gets transferred to my fingertips.

Skincare

Dr. Bronner's Hemp Peppermint Pure-Castile Soap
This is skincare, but I use it to clean my makeup brushes so I threw it in this category anyways.  This is an amazing product to wash makeup out of my brushes.  Since I finished this I just started a bottle of the lavender scented version and that works just as well.

Sunday Riley Martian Mattifying Melting Water-Gel Toner
This didn't seem like a toner to me, it seemed like I was wiping a treatment across my face.  Also, it made me break out which is rare.  I didn't like this product at all.

Lancome Visionnaire Yeux
I received this in a Lancome VoxBox.  Since this was so small, I don't have a definitive opinion on it, but it did feel nice and moisturizing under my eyes the few times that I did use it.

Trish McEvoy Professional Strength Multi-Acid Weekly Peel
This was a pack of 3 pads to wipe on your face and it's supposed to even the skin tone, brighten the complexion as well as reduce fine lines, pores, etc. I used these pads weekly for 3 weeks and didn't notice any benefits whatsoever.  I wouldn't repurchase this product.

Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1 Lip Care
This was a really great lip balm.  Just as good if not better than higher end ones I've used.  I would definitely repurchase this.

GlamGlow Gravity Mud Firming Treatment
This is a peel off mask that is supposed to firm and tighten the skin.  I got several uses out of this sample and I truly don't know how so many beauty YouTubers love this product.  Sure, it's cool to use because it's silver and it's a peel-off mask, but I see no benefits to my skin whatsoever and I'm much older (and in more need of firming) than most of these YouTubers who claim that it lifts and firms their youthful skin which certainly doesn't NEED any lifting or firming.  If you want to try a GlamGlow mask that does what it says, try the YouthMud or the SuperMud, both are amazing!

Makeup

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer
I used this just once but I did enjoy it that 1 time.  It had nice coverage and lasted the entire day on me without too much fading or splotchiness.  I still probably wouldn't purchase it though because I like the Estee Lauder Double Wear more than this.

Mac Pro LongWear Foundation
Of all of the foundations I've tried, this is my 2nd favorite (after Double Wear).  It has great coverage and lasts the entire day for me.

Laura Gellar Balance N Brighten Foundation
I used this as a setting powder but it did absolutely nothing for me.  It didn't look good over any of my foundations, including high end ones.  It applied very blotchy and the finish didn't look nice at all.  I wouldn't repurchase this.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer
This was a good eyelid primer, though it was a bit on the dry side.  That said, I didn't notice anything special about it that was any better or worse than other eyelid primers I've tried.

Extras

Happy Holidays to everyone no matter what you celebrate!

I just bought myself a new digital camera, the Sony a5000.  It supposedly takes awesome makeup photos which I have yet to test out.  It takes decent macro photos but it's a bit difficult to figure out, I'm so bad at technology!  Right now everything is coming out blurry lol.

Does anyone have any big NYE plans?  I don't, those days are long gone for me.  I'd much rather chill at home.

I just finished bingeing on Gossip Girl and was a decent entertaining show, but nothing special and the characters were all pretty horrible.  I'd like to watch a mystery or thriller next, so I'm taking recommendations!  For reference, some of my faves are Prison Break, Stranger Things, Lost, and Fringe.  I'm a few episodes into The OA and it's ok so far.

I hope everyone has an amazing 2017!  I must say, the second half of 2016 turned out pretty well for me, so I'm hoping for a positive 2017 too!
