Play! By Sephora Unboxing & Review - May

The Play! By Sephora beauty subscription box is $10 a month and contains 6 high end deluxe sized beauty samples.  Every sample included in this box is a brand that is sold at Sephora.  I believe that right now there isn't a waiting list,  you can try to sign up on the Sephora site HERE.

Sephora switched things up a bit this month with their packaging.  In past months the items came in a cute cardboard box, this month they are in a drawstring bag.  The booklet is now simply a piece of folded up paper.  There is still a coupon that will give you 50 Beauty Insider Points with any in store Sephora purchase.  Seeing these changes made me hopeful that they might put the extra few dollars saved into the samples included in the box.

Here's what I got in my May box.

Origins Maskimizer
This is a priming mist that you spray onto your face before applying a mask.  It has Marine Algae Complex which will optimize skin for the "ultimate mask experience".  Also included are one use samples of the Origins Clear Improvement Charcoal Mask and the Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask.  I've tried the Origins Charcoal mask and there are definitely better charcoal masks out there.

Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Sleeping Facial
This is rich in Vitamin C to help even skin tone and improve fine lines.  I'm excited to try this product.  I love any products that promise to brighten my skin.  By this way, this smells amazing!

Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
I enjoy trying deep conditioning hair masks so I'm glad to have received this in my box this month.

Atelier Cologne Orange Sanguine Perfume Sample
This perfume definitely has a strong orange scent to it which I find a bit odd.  I also don't like that it does not have a spray nozzle.  I'll be passing this along.

Tarte Tarteist Lip Liner in Latergram
I was excited to see this liner in my box this month and the color is a really pretty nude brown.  However, the pencil sample inside the tube is SO thin and tiny that it breaks off with ANY kind of pressure.  It broke off when I did the hand swatch and it broke off several times when I was lining my lips with it.

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Kimchi
Bite Beauty lipsticks are amazing and their new Amuse Bouche formula is even better than their original!  This lipstick is insanely pigmented and creamy.  That said, the color they gave us is a bit over the top.  Although it's really pretty, this shade of neon pink is really hard to wear for a lot of people.

L-R: Tarte Latergram, Bite Beauty Kimchi
Overall I thought the May Play! by Sephora box was ok.  I'm excited to try the Korres Sleeping Facial and the Briogeo hair mask.  I'm really bummed about the quality of the Tarte lip liner though I will definitely keep trying to use it.  I do love the quality of the Bite Beauty lipstick, but I just don't know how much I'll actually wear that shade.

You can sign up for this subscription service  HERE.

What did you think of this month's Play! by Sephora box?  It's still not my favorite beauty subscription service and many months the samples just annoy me (see last month's Nars lip pencil fiasco) but for some reason I haven't been able to let it go just yet.
