Frugal Friday - Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara - Review

Happy Friday!

Today's Frugal Friday will feature the Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious Mascara.  This retails for around $8 and I will be reviewing the non-waterproof version.

According to Revlon, this mascara will deliver a lustrous deep color to lashes.  The lash stretch brush pulls the formula's high-shine lengthening fibers from root to tip. Yup, it's a fiber mascara.  Unfortunately, this was not advertised on the front of the packaging or else I would have skipped this mascara since I have not had much luck with fiber mascaras.

This mascara has a natural bristle brush.  As shown below, you can see that the formula is very goopy.  Perhaps it's because this is a fiber formula but it's very difficult to get these chunks (are those the actual fibers?) off the brush.

Below are my lashes with 1, 2, and 3 coats of this mascara.

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara - 1 coat
Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara - 2 coats
Revlon Bold Lacquer - 3 coats
As you can see, one coat of this mascara is decent but once I started adding coats, my lashes started to get all jumbled together.  It barely gave my lashes any volume or length and didn't really darken them either.  This mascara is a huge fail for me.  I wouldn't recommend it at all since there are so many other drugstore mascaras that work much better for my lashes (my favorite being the the Maybelline Pumped Up Mascara).

Have you tried this mascara?  If so, what did you think of it?

p.s. Going forward my Frugal Friday posts will be cut down to every other week.  I feel that I'm running out of products to feature and I don't want to feel pressured to purchase something I have no interest in just for the sake of having it to review.  I know that this is a big trap that a lot of beauty bloggers fall into.

p.p.s. I will be on vacation for the next week and a half so posts will be minimal because I want to relax and be on a real break from everything!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
