Frugal Friday - Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balms and Matte Balms - Review & Lip Swatches

TGIF!!

Today's edition of Frugal Friday features the Revlon ColorBurst Lacquer Balms.  Revlon First came out with their Balm Stains which I discussed here.  The Lacquer Balms have a bit more of a shine to them than the Balm Stains.

This is a retractable chubby lip crayon.  They retail for around $8.99 depending on the store you visit.

I have 4 shades, Demure, Ingenue, Whimsical, and Flirtatious.  These aren't as long lasting as the Balm Stains but they are just as pigmented.  These also have the slight minty taste as the Balm Stains and feel very moisturizing on the lips.

These crayons have a bit of sparkle to them and a lot of shine.  Demure is a pinky nude shade with a lot of shimmer to it.  This is not my favorite color since I don't like frosty pinks on me.  Ingenue is more a brown-ish nude with a sheen.  Whimsical is a very bright pink.  Flirtatious is almost a candy red with a pink undertone.

I do have one of the Revlon Matte Balms.  Between the Balm Stains, the Lacquer Balms, and the Matte Balms, I think the Matte Balms are the most loved.  I'm not a fan of matte anything but I really wanted to try one because of all the love out there.  I purchased Elusive, which looked to be a neutral shade.

Revlon Matt Balm Elusive

It's actually a very pale pink color.  This lip crayon did not look good on me at all.  It accentuated every line on my lips and my lips were freshly exfoliated and moisturized.  I tried this lippie several times and never got it to look right.  It looks like I took an actual crayon to my lips and it made my lips look very dry and crackly (trust me, not seeing a lip swatch is a good thing!)

I really love the Revlon Balm Stains and Lacquer Balms so I'm not too bummed that the Matt Balms don't work for me.

Have you tried these?  Which one is your fave?

Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. I probably would have loved it if my lips would have co-operated with the formula. Oh well. Thanks for visiting!

  3. I totally see how you would prefer the matte balms to the lacquer balms. I know I love shiny lips, but I feel like the lacquers are suuuuper shiny. Shiny enough to only be worn for special occasions.

    1. Oh I totally wear the lacquers out and about. Def. not to work but if I'm running errands I've worn then and they are perfect for dinner or drinks out at night.

  6. I have the lacquer balm in Demure, I haven't worn it yet because of the glitter...it has a lot and I'm not the biggest fan of lip products with glitter. They all look great on you. Sorry the matte balm didn't work out for you.
