Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara - Review

The Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara is really hyped out in the blogosphere.  I got it in the Too Faced Beauty Blogger Darlings Kit from Ulta which I blogged about HERE.

Claims: An intensely black, volumizing mascara with an hourglass-shaped brush that separates, coats, and curls each lash to voluptuous perfection.

The wand has typical brush type bristles and is in an hourglass shape.  It looks really messy and goopy when you take it out of the tube.

With one coat of mascara, my lashes look good, dark, seperated, and dramatic.

Two coats is when this mascara really starts to stand out.  In my opinion it is absolutely not possible to use this mascara without a metal eyelash comb as it gets extremely clumpy.

This mascara is amazing with three coats and with a really thorough comb through with an eyelash comb.  I would definitely not wear 3 coats of this during the day, probably only for a night out where I wanted a dramatic eye look.

Overall I love the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara!  It is a higher end mascara and the price ($23) reflects that.  However, I would say that if you don't use it every day and only when you want a glam look, it's worth the price.

Do you have this mascara?  What do you think?  Does it clump up on you too?

  1. I LOVE this mascara! It's probably my all time favorite! I usually use this and a covergirl brand mascara to help with the clumping :)

    1. Oh that's a great idea to use an anti-clumping mascara on top, I'll def. try that thanks for the suggestion!

  3. So glad to hear that you are liking this mascara! I just recently found my unopen one from the A Few of My Fave Things set and have it in my purse to use if I'm in a hurry to go. I've used it a few times already and it reminds me of Benefit's They're Real? They're Real started to flake on me real bad after a month of using so I stopped using it. So far, Too Faced's has not flaked on me yet. I appreciate hearing your thoughts on this! xx

    1. Oh, maybe my sample of They're Real is just off but I found that mascara to not be dramatic at all. It does lengthen and separate but that's about it. You are brave for using Better Than Sex on the go b/c like I said in the post, I need to comb through my lashes several times before I would leave the house with this stuff on lol! Thanks for visiting!

  4. I love your detailed review! I only have the sample size and I liked it but not enough to spend $24.00 on it. I'm glad you have had luck with it!

    1. This was a sample size too and although it's crazy dramatic, I prob wouldn't spend the $24 on it. If I wanted crazy lashes like that, honestly I'd just apply falsies! Thanks for visiting!

  6. I am enjoying this mascara but I haven't completely made a decision about this mascara. It doesn't clump on me. They're Real clumps on me but this one doesn't seem to. The name is really silly and has nothing to do with mascara. But they just wanted to grab your attention and obviously it worked. I am thoroughly enjoying the beauty blogger darlings kit!! Great review I really enjoyed reading it.

    1. It's so strange how some mascaras work for certain people. For me, this clumps SO much that it blows my mind that it's possibly not clumpy for anyone else haha! Thanks for the visit!

  10. Hi El! I'm here via the SITSgirls link up. Happy to discover and follow your blog! I haven't tried this TF mascara yet, but I hear lots of good things about it! I've been loving L'Oreal Butterfly effect waterproof for holding a curl in my stubbornly straight lashes. I also love CG Clump Crusher, Benefit BadGal, IT Cosmetics...and so many more lol!

    1. Gotta love SITSgirls and thanks for following! I didn't really like the Butterfly mascara b/c it was too wet and messy for me but I've been considering trying the waterproof version. I have Clump Crusher but haven't tried it yet and I can't wait b/c it seems that everyone loves it! I'm following you now too!

  12. Visiting from SITS! always on the lookout for a great new mascara…. thinking the long, voluptuous lashes will distract from the lack-of-sleep bags under my eyes. Looks like a great product! -Lindsey @ www.sisterstosons.com
