Frugal Friday - Cover Girl Bombshell Volume Mascara - Review

Welcome to another edition of Frugal Friday!  Frugal Friday is a series where I feature affordable drugstore beauty products.

Today I will be discussing Cover Girl Bombshell Volume Mascara which retails for $11.99.  As always, never pay full price for drugstore makeup!  They often go on sale and there's usually great coupons available.

This is a newish mascara that boasts "big sexy bombshell lashes".  The tube is a pretty pink color and is ridiculously thick.  This is a double ended mascara with two steps.

Step 1 (as indicated on the tube) contains a plastic wand with spiky bristles.  This wand is supposed to give your lashes major volume.

As you can see, it doesn't even look like I'm wearing any mascara at all.

One coat of Cover Girl Bombshell Volume Mascara Step 1
Step 2 contains a more natural bristle wand and is supposed to intensify your lashes by "sealing" them with an "intense dark all day finish".  This formula is obviously more black pigmented and almost "inky" looking.

This definitely darkened my lashes and gave them more volume and drama.

One coat of Cover Girl Bombshell Volume Mascara Step 1 and one coat of Step 2.
I like to wear Cover Girl Bombshell Volume Mascara to work because it gives a subtle darkness and drama to my lashes without making them looking clumpy or drag queen-ish.  I wouldn't bother to wear this mascara for an evening out because I have many other more dramatic mascaras that I save for evenings.  Also, it is not easy to remove for an everyday mascara.  You do need to use a separate eye makeup remover to get this fully off your lashes.

Have you tried this mascara?  If so, what did you think of it?

    1. LOL, why thank you pretty lady!
I didn't see a waterproof version yet because I def. would have bought that one instead. I bet they'll have one soon or in a few months.

    2. This one is HARD to get off! I think it will do for waterproof, imo. At the end of the first day, I washed all my makeup off with my cleanser, then rubbed my eyes with it. Nada. Didn't smudge a bit! I had to use a couple swipes of my eye makeup remover on it!

    1. It's a decent mascara for sure. I just would use it for day than evening b/c I like my evening lashes to be a lot more dramatic. Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I hate when mascara is hard to take off with makeup remover. I def agree that your lashes look more full after the second wand. I def prefer the natural bristle wands over the rubber/plastic ones. I think they work much better for me. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I actually prefer the plastic bristle wands b/c I feel they are less clumpier but it really depends. Yeah, for a not too dark or dramatic mascara, this mascara was way too much trouble to remove. Thanks for visiting!

  4. I LOVE this mascara! It does feel a bit heavy to me, though, so I only wear it when I don't mind feeling more "done up".

    1. It's def. a decent mascara but for me, it's not my "done up" mascara. I will be using it as my day mascara. Thanks for stopping by!
