Holiday Party Look

Hi everyone, I hope you all are having a fantastic weekend!  I am actually off work for 16 whole days and I couldn't be happier!  It's also my 3 month blog anniversary today yay!  I can't even believe it's only been 3 months, seems sooo much longer!  :)

This is going to be a post about the look I achieved for my company's annual holiday party.  This is actually a pretty huge and fancy party so I look forward to them every year because it's a chance to really get glammed up.

For my makeup I used a million items as you can see from this mess!

I wanted to do a blue smokey eye and I used mostly the Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette (which coincidentally and luckily I received in the mail that very night!).  The main colors of this look were Madness, Prank, and Shellshock (silver).  I also used my Be A Bombshell liquid liner, UD 24/7 liner in Zero and Deviant, and the Starlooks pencil in Topaz.  I used my YSL Faux Cils mascara and some falsies (I went through 3 sets and even these ones came out wacky because of my dumb shaky hands, grrr!).

I apologize for the quality of these photos, I live alone and can never really get good selfies (does anyone else have this problem and any advice for me??).  Anywho, you can't really see it in these photos but the blue was REALLY vibrant and the silver in the inner corners was so bright and shimmery.  Oh well.

The rest of my face:
Benefit Porefessional + Girl Meets Pearl, Double Wear foundation with beauty blender, UD Baked bronzer all over, NARS Laguna bronzer to contour (I swear contouring just doesn't show up on me no matter how dark I try to do it), NARS Orgasm blush, MAC Prep + Prime for under eyes, Watt's Up to highlight, Hourglass Ambient Lighting in Luminous Light for highlight powder on top of cheeks and some all over (review on this coming up, so far I'm underwhelmed).  For lips I used my brand new BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie gloss in Game Changer which I LOVED!  Again, these photos don't really showcase my makeup that well.

I also applied Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs all over my legs and arms.

For my nails I used nail stickers from Sephora.  They were black with gold specks, shiny and festive.  I painted my toes red with the nail polish I received in my December Ispy Bag from Nicka K.

Anyways, here's a photo of the final look from the party and another of my all time favorite coat.  :)

The party was super fun and it's always neat to get to see your co-workers all dressed up and meet their significant others.   Overall I really liked my look and I was sad to have to wash my face at the end of the night!

This is definitely a different kind of post for me so I hope that you enjoyed it.  I feel weird about there being so many pics of ME ha!  Please let me know if you have any specific questions on the makeup application since I know I went over it pretty quick.

Hope you all have a great day! :)

  1. What a pretty shimmery look! Perfect for a party! I know what you mean about "selfies." I feel like I have to take a million pics to get one I like. Love the festive red dress!

  2. Who doesn't love getting all dolled up for a fun night, you look absolutely gorgeous!! I'm glad you were able to use your Vice 2 palette, I hope you are enjoying it!
Girl, I've been practicing on my contouring and no matter how dark I do it, it also doesn't show up on me. So weird, I don't want to go overboard and end up looking muddy so I just do little now. Oh well...

I have a coat very similar to yours and it's also my favorite!! I love it!!

Don't feel weird about having pictures of yourself, I was like that too, but you'll get used to it. It's nice getting to see your pretty face! Oh my, taking selfies is hard work!! I take about 57 and end up picking 2 or 3! Bahahaha!!

I really enjoyed this post and look forward to more like this, thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks for the compliment and yes, I'm obsessed with the Vice 2!
I'm so glad there's someone else out there that contouring doesn't really work for! I'm going to keep practicing but like you, I'm also afraid of looking dirty.
Funny I've had that coat for at least 5 years and I've probably worn it 5 times, once a year for a holiday party lol!

And OMG, those 2 crappy eye selfies ARE from like 57 that I took and those were the best. How sad is that haha!

      Thanks for stopping by lovely!

  3. I think your makeup came out beautiful! Just the right amount of glam with your outfit. I love your necklace too btw. I also have a hard time with false lashes. They add extra ummph to a look but can be a pain to put on. I may try to wear them xmas eve. Great post and I'm glad you had fun at your party!

  6. Looking sexy and so beautiful El! Blue and silver shadow is hard to pull off but I like it on you! I'm with you and Lily on taking selfies, after 100 pics I would only pic 2 or 3 and then I only like my eyes in it so I crop it hehehe! Keep posting those pretty selfies and your outfits tho, I like to see how the whole look comes out =)

  8. Loving this look you created, you look amazing! I really wanna get my hands on this Vice palette now. I've seen so many tutorials using it and it seems awesome. I would love to give you advice on how to take selfies, but I absolutely hate taking them! I always feel really awkward and think, "You're doing it for the blog Chelsea" lol. Falsies are a pain though, I just bought a whole bunch from Ulta when I caught them on sale. Hopefully we get better at putting them on! Thanks for sharing El!

    1. Ugh, taking selfies is awesome! I take a million angles and a million "faces" and I hate each and every one! That's why you guys usually only see close up of an eyeball or lips lol! I love the look of falsies but yes, they take me so many tried to get them right! Thanks for visiting!
